Abu Antar is a TV character that was portrayed by the late Syrian actor Naji Jaber and was one of my favorite TV characters growing up. Abu Antar was introduced in the early seventies on the sitcom Sah El Nom as a typical Damascene thug who always relied on brawn to get his way. The character was a huge success and soon became very popular throughout the Arab World as a symbol of strength and humor.
This portrait that I painted in a superhero comic-book style is my way of paying homage to the character.
